A few people have asked us about our MaternTEA that we sell in the store. Our signature teas are made by Herban Avenues and are a great beverage option for both moms and moms-to-be.

Pre-Natal Materni-TEA
Adapted from a recipe by Nancy Giglio (nurse midwife). Contains raspberry fruit and leaf, alfalfa, oatstraw, nettles, rosehips, lemon balm, spearmint, hibiscus, and orange peel. Good nutrition (calcium, iron, vitamin B and C, trace minerals) to keep mom well. This tea eases stomach issues and tones the uterus lining. A toned uterus lining makes for an easier delivery and recover.
Recipe idea: mix it with cranberry/raspberry juice and drink cold!

Post-Natal Materni-TEA
Lactation promoter/anti-flatulent for mom and baby. Contains nettles (which replenishes lost iron), raspberry leaf (uterine tonic), fennel (anti-flatulent and estrogen booster), fenugreek (lactation promoter), and peppermint (great tasting digestive aid). Best served as a hot tea. So soothing!

Why drink herbal tea?
Herbal teas contain vitamins, minerals, anti-oxidants, and phytochemicals that are good for you and your baby. and no caffeine. Forget sodas (no food value) and decrease sugary drinks (like juices and lemonade) by substituting cold or hot herbal tea. You'll be hooked in no time!

September's MaterniTEA Party was a huge success!

We just wanted to say thanks - thanks to those of you who attended our September Tea, thanks to Dr. Stephen Bendheim for speaking, and thanks to our incredible sponsors. We are so proud to offer this free event each trimester and to give back to our customers, both old and new. This Tea's focus was on pre-natal testing and also offered an opportunity for expectant mothers to ask questions about anything they wanted to discuss not included in the presentation. In addition to our custom-made organic prenatal tea and delicious hors d'oeuvres provided by local caterers and bakeries, each guest was given an opportunity to shop during our extended hours and to take advantage of a special discount for just our Tea participants. Lastly, each guest was given a special gift bag that included over $700 worth of tangible goods, samples, coupons, and discounts. The gift bags plus the raffle door prizes total approximately $20,000 of give-aways! That's right, twenty thousand dollars!

We had a great time last night and hope our guests did too. Thanks again to everyone for making our September Tea another wonderful success.

Our First Birthday

It's hard to believe that this weekend marks our first birthday. Some days, it feels like we've just opened. But we have learned a lot and have made many new friends over the past 12 months. Thank you to everyone who continues to support us and this incredible endeavor. We are happy to serve the Richmond community and wish you all the best.
